Tomato Rice using pressure cooker

Whenever I feel lazy to cook, my choice is usually Tomato rice. It is very simply to cook and tastes delicious. Egg poriyal is a great combination for this rice.



Ingredients

Normal Rice -1 cup    Big tomatoes -4    Onion -2 medium size chopped   Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

Chilli powder - 1- 2 tsp    Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp    Salt as required


To Grind


  • Green Chilli - 1

  • 3 tbsp fresh grated coconut / thengai




Method

  • Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pressure cooker and add onions and saute till it turns translucent.

  • Add ginger-garlic paste. Saute for a few more minutes.

  • Then add chopped tomatos, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt needed. Cook until oil separates.

  • Add needed raw rice and coconut paste to the tomato gravy and mix well.

  • Add 3 cups of water and mix well.Keep it for 3 to 4 whistles.

  • Garnish with coriander leaves


Note


  • This recipe can be done using kadai also with left over rice.If its done using kadai means you dont need to add coconut paste.
